Thriving the Future Podcast at the One Year Mark.
Thriving the Future Podcast started in November 2021 and we are now over one year, with 60+ episodes.
These are the Top 6 Episodes of 2022:
Ep. 18 – How to Thrive In Ukraine:
How you thrive in a war zone, or anywhere else, depends on your mindset.
We recorded this episode in March, just after the war started in Ukraine. We approached it from the viewpoint of this being a part of a ForeverWar.
How do you keep your sanity with all the UkraineNews…er…propaganda?
We talked about how to keep yourself Thriving in the endless propaganda:
- (Re)Examine your default loyalties.
- Determine what your values really are.
- Decide who to trust.
- Eliminate blind obedience.
- Adapt to shifting norms (stay realistic).
This episode was shared by a high traffic person on Twitter in April and went viral. It had 300 downloads in the first week after it went viral.
How many people give up on their New Year resolutions?
Ep. 12 – Achieve Your Intentional Life Goals, Not Futile Resolutions
This was a late January 2022 episode talking about the futility of New Year resolutions and how most people give up on them by the end of January each year. This episode did not take off until the Ukraine episode went viral. This was the most downloaded episode of 2022 with 323 downloads. We recently reposted it as a Bonus episode since New Years resolution season is upon us again.
Ep. 19 – Who Can You Trust?
What does it mean to be “a man of your word”? We discuss Faith vs. Trust. Duty. Responsibility. Fidelis.
In the past, you didn’t have to ask what it meant to be a man of your word, because they knew. And they knew because they had shared values. You ask that now and no one knows because they don’t have shared values. What was agreed was valuable was fulfilling your duty and your responsibility. Now what is valuable is not having any responsibility.
Ep. 51 – Perpend on Worldview vs. Mindset
#It’sAllAboutTheMindset
In late summer, Perpend moved to the city to pursue his his quest for intentional community and to prepare for a monastic life at a monastery.
In this episode, Perpend gave an update on his quest for intentional community.
We discussed Worldview and Mindset. How consistent should you be in your worldview with the members of your community, to ensure the same vision and direction?
As you prepare for the tough times ahead, are you building community or do you have the Warlord mindset?
Ep. 58 – Getting Stuff Done – Grant Payne of HomesteadOfPayne
As said above, in late summer, Perpend moved to the city to pursue his his quest for intentional community and to prepare for a monastic life at a monastery. I rebooted the podcast and invited other guests, from friends, homesteading groups, and people I followed on Instagram and Twitter. The thing that makes them authentic is that they are not professional podcast guests, meaning that they don’t make the rounds of the “usual suspects” of podcasts in this space. This keeps the topics and discussion fresh, and sometimes surprising.
Grant Payne of @HomesteadOfPayne on Instagram has amazing enthusiasm and he is Getting Stuff Done – #GSD at a level off the charts.
Ep. 45 – How to Make Money on Your Own Terms
What if you could work less than 40 hours a week?
What if you could charge double what everyone else is charging, working less, and still #Thrive?
Jules Smith, editor of The Homestead Journal, shared his “multi-side hustle, intermittent, high value dollar per hour system” in this popular episode.

GrowNutTrees.com
Chestnut seeds for planting, chestnut seedlings, elderberry cuttings, comfrey crowns and root cuttings. Adapted to the Midwest.
Seeds and trees have “memory”. They thrived and reproduced in a certain climate.
Often when you buy chestnut trees or seeds online, you have to buy from nurseries in the Northeast or Southeast US, or the Pacific Northwest.
Take it from us, trees grown in those climates do not do well in Kansas.
Buying from our Kansas homestead, with nut trees grown and adapted to the Midwest, will make them much more likely to be successful on your homestead or in your yard.
